An 1821 Manifest for a slave named William being taken from Philadelphia to Charleston. At the bottom the captain Stephen Miller swears that the above named slave has not been imported into the United States after January 1, 1808, when the importation of slaves was finally prohibited by a Congressional act as allowed for under the Constitution.
