“…I suppose I could give you a description of camps and preoccupations there in…drilled solders…all in very good health, with the exception of colds which is very common in camps… I hope I will never have to face the cannons but I have very little to base my hopes upon…home and friends are too fresh in my mind for me to be as content as the old soldiers.”
