Alice Stone Blackwell (1857-1950) edited the Woman’s Journal, voice of her mother Lucy Stone’s American Woman Suffrage Association. She was instrumental in effecting the merger of the AWSA with its more militant rival, the National Woman Suffrage Association (NWSA), headed by Susan B. Anthony, hence leading to the creation of the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA).
