Pro Lincoln 1864 Campaign Broadside. 1864. 1 p., 10 1/8 x 13 1/8 in.
...Attacking the Copperheads and McClellan, this broadside compares Horatio Seymour, then New York governor and (later the 1868 presidential candidate), to the notorious Revolutionary War turncoat Benedict Arnold by pointing out that the charges made by Seymour against Lincoln sounded quite a bit like the charges Arnold leveled against Washington and the Continental Congress in 1780.
The anonymous author then consigns the Copperhead dissidents to the same fate as the Tories of the Revolutionary War period.
